About CTS
The Center for Transportation Safety conducts a research program of approximately $3 million-per-year with funds received from state and federal governmental and other agencies. Center staff includes full time research, technical, and administrative personnel, graduate and undergraduate students, and other support personnel.
CTS researchers have vast experience and skills in the statistical analysis of crash data, survey and focus group research, man-machine interactions (human factors), roadway safety, and policy and program evaluation.
Center researchers study issues related to driver distraction, young driver initiatives, occupant restraint use, alcohol-related crashes, motorcycle safety, roadway safety, pedestrian, and other safety topics.
The Center's clients include the Texas Department of Transportation, National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), Federal Highway Administration, Southwest Region University Transportation Center, AAA Foundation for Traffic Safety, the Texas Department of Public Safety, and others.
University Involvement
The varied nature of research projects has made it possible for CTS researchers to form ongoing collaborative relationships with various Texas A&M University schools and colleges, including:
