Groups/People

The Center for Transportation Safety consists of professionals from various fields including engineering, education and enforcement, and social sciences with specialization in a variety of areas including DWI, safety engineering, enforcement, policy, occupant safety and survey research. The Center is divided into four groups, each created based on subject areas of specialization and/or type of research methodology commonly used:

Behavioral Research Group conducts research that enhances traffic safety by advancing expert and public understanding of social and behavioral issues.

Crash Analysis Group uses statistical analysis and crash modeling to evaluate effectiveness of current and potential countermeasures.

Human Factors Group performs experimental and analytical research related to driver capabilities and limitations.

Planning and Evaluation Group formulates and employsmethods of evaluating programs and policies.
